Dear [salutation],

Quote of the Week

“I’ve always thought New Year's Day was an especially American tradition, full of the optimism and hope we're famous for in our daily lives -- an energy and confidence we call the American spirit.” - President Ronald Reagan, 1983

As we prepare for the end of the year, I am grateful for the many accomplishments Team Murphy has achieved for Eastern North Carolina in 2025. This year alone, my office closed over 1,200 constituent cases, returned more than $4.1 million to constituents, responded to 5,851 constituent emails and phone calls, and made historic progress legislatively on the issues that matter to you. I remain steadfast in my commitment to being an accessible and diligent representative.

It is an honor and a privilege to be your voice in Congress, standing up for the issues that matter most to you. Thank you for entrusting me to be your advocate in Washington during this pivotal moment in our nation’s history. We have much to be thankful for as Americans and citizens of the greatest country in the world, but we still have work ahead of us. I look forward to tackling the most pressing challenges facing the United States in 2026, and wish you a happy, healthy, and holy New Year!

I will continue fighting for the values of North Carolina's Third Congressional District. If you wish to stay more engaged and aware of what is happening in Washington and our District, please follow me on my social media accounts linked above or here: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

In Washington

Disaster Related Extension of Deadlines Act Signed into Law

Disaster victims endure unimaginable challenges as they work to rebuild their lives. The last thing they should worry about is navigating confusing IRS filing requirements. The Disaster Related Extension of Deadlines Act provides individuals with sufficient time to claim tax refunds or credits while ensuring clear communication from the IRS to prevent unnecessary penalties or interest.

I am grateful to President Trump for signing my bill into law to bring meaningful reform. I am also very appreciative of Chairman Smith for his leadership on the Ways and Means Committee and the unanimous, bipartisan support the bill received in Congress.

2025 Constituent Services by the Numbers

I am grateful to serve as your voice in Congress. We have much to celebrate this year with tons of wins for our district.

My office returned over $4.1 million to taxpayers, responded to 5,851 constituent emails and calls, closed over 1,200 constituent cases, and allocated over $244 million for our military bases and facilities.

Serving you is at the heart of my team's mission, and we stand ready to help you in the new year.

I look forward to bringing home many more wins for Eastern North Carolina in 2026!

2025 Legislative Wins

I am delighted to share my 2025 legislative wins as I worked hard to craft legislation that meaningfully addresses the most important issues facing you, Eastern North Carolina, and America.

I’m proud of the incredible support several of my bills have received this Congress, including the Disaster Related Extension of Deadlines Act, Veterans National Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment Act, Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act, and End China’s De Minimis Abuse Act. All of these pieces of legislation make America stronger for you and future generations.

Thank you for entrusting me to represent you in Congress. Serving you is my mission, and I cannot wait to continue this legislative work in the new year.

Senate Companion Legislation Introduced for DoD and VA Medical Credentialing Integration Bill

I recently introduced the bipartisan DoD and VA Medical Credentialing Integration Act to direct the Secretary of War and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to jointly select and implement a uniform credentialing and privileging system for medical providers.

This legislation presents a strategic opportunity to advance healthcare priorities throughout the federal sector's healthcare system, strengthening workforce recruitment and retention, refining effective government health agency practices, and providing support for service members and veterans, all while safeguarding and better utilizing Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars.

I am proud to continue this work alongside Senators Marsha Blackburn and Jacky Rosen, who introduced bipartisan, companion legislation in the United States Senate, to align the healthcare missions of these departments efficiently.

Congratulations to the Lumbee Tribe on Federal Recognition

In 1885, the Lumbee Tribe was recognized in North Carolina and began its long quest to seek full federal recognition thereafter. The community faced egregious oppression and violence, and while Congress acknowledged the Lumbee people in 1956, they did not receive the same benefits and recognition as other tribes.

After many decades, justice has been achieved, and with great bipartisan backing. I’m very proud to have supported this effort from the beginning.

Congratulations to the Lumbee Tribe!

NDAA Wins for Eastern North Carolina

This year’s National Defense Authorization Act provided massive wins for North Carolina’s Third District.

Our beautiful state is home to some of our nation's finest warfighters, including those serving at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Stations Cherry Point and New River.

It is my honor to fight for the necessary resources they need to protect our country. I am proud to share that $244,689,000 has been allocated to our bases.

Looking Back on the Broken Promises of Obamacare

Obamacare was passed under false promises. This program has only jacked up costs, lined the pockets of insurance companies, and increased waste, fraud, and abuse.

We don’t need a band-aid solution; we need real reform to put patients first.

Wright Brothers First Flight Anniversary

Team Murphy honored the 122nd anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ historic first powered and controlled flight in Kill Devil Hills.

December 17th, 1903, was a momentous day when Wilbur and Orville Wright conquered the skies, changing the course of aviation forever. All of Eastern North Carolina proudly honors the legacy of the Wright Brothers, whose ingenuity changed the world and continues to inspire generations.

National Impaired Driving

Prevention Month

This December, we bring awareness to the thousands of Americans who have been killed or injured by drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Every 42 minutes, an American passes away due to impaired driving. This heartbreaking statistic reminds us of this issue’s prevalence and how we must work together to prevent these tragedies.

Thank you to the brave police officers, first responders, healthcare workers, and organizations working to help those affected by impaired drivers and find sustainable solutions. My thoughts are with those who lost a loved one due to impaired driving. I am committed to putting the safety and health of Americans above all else.

Sincerely,
Greg Murphy Signature
