Quote of the Week

On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 launched from Kennedy Space Center, beginning the historic mission that would land the first humans on the Moon and mark one of the greatest achievements in American history.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." – Neil Armstrong

When Neil Armstrong spoke these words as he stepped onto the lunar surface on July 20, 1969, he captured the significance of a mission that showcased American innovation, determination, and leadership. Apollo 11 demonstrated what could be accomplished through vision, perseverance, and the pioneering spirit that has long defined our nation.

The launch of Apollo 11 and the successful Moon landing remain lasting reminders of America's ability to achieve the extraordinary. The mission united the nation, inspired generations of scientists, engineers, and explorers, and cemented the United States' place at the forefront of space exploration.

As we reflect on this historic milestone, we honor the astronauts, engineers, and countless Americans whose dedication made the impossible possible. Their achievement continues to inspire us to pursue bold goals, embrace innovation, and reach for new frontiers.

In both Washington and across eastern North Carolina, I have had the opportunity to meet with constituents, small business owners, farmers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to hear directly about the issues that matter most to you. From the rising cost of everyday necessities to strengthening our local economy and improving access to healthcare, I remain committed to advancing commonsense solutions that deliver real results. It is an honor to represent North Carolina's Third District in Congress, and I will continue working every day to ensure our communities and our nation remain strong and prosperous.

I will continue fighting for the values of North Carolina's Third Congressional District. If you wish to stay more engaged and aware of what is happening in Washington and our District, please follow me on my social media accounts linked above or here: Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube.

Obtaining Citizenship

A Carteret County constituent reached out to my office after his wife's naturalization application remained pending just weeks before his deployment to Japan. Without her U.S. citizenship, she would not be able to obtain a passport and accompany him to his new duty station. My office worked directly with USCIS to expedite her application, resulting in its approval before the family's deadline. Team Murphy is proud to help military families navigate the federal government and ensure they receive the support they deserve.

In Washington

Hosted Healthcare Innovation Roundtable

As Co-Chair of the GOP Doctors Caucus, I was proud to lead a roundtable with NYU Langone focused on how innovation and real-time clinical data can strengthen our healthcare system.

NYU Langone demonstrated how its advanced clinical analytics platform provides hospitals with timely insights that improve patient care, streamline operations, and reduce unnecessary administrative burdens. These tools can help providers make informed decisions while improving quality and reducing costs.

As a physician, I know firsthand the value of giving healthcare providers the resources they need to deliver the highest standard of care. I appreciate NYU Langone for sharing its expertise and look forward to continuing to explore patient-focused solutions that improve healthcare outcomes for communities across the country.

Meeting With Primary Care Collaborative CEO Ann Greiner

I appreciated the opportunity to meet with Primary Care Collaborative CEO Ann Greiner to discuss ways to strengthen our nation's primary care system and improve Medicare's physician payment model.

As a physician, I understand the critical role primary care providers play in keeping patients healthy and preventing more serious health issues down the road. We discussed opportunities to support a stronger primary care workforce, improve access to care, and advance payment models that reward better patient outcomes while reducing unnecessary administrative burdens.

I appreciate the work the Primary Care Collaborative is doing to advance patient-centered care, and I look forward to continuing to work on solutions that support both physicians and the patients they serve.

Meeting With the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Minister Claudia Bauer

It was a pleasure to meet with Austrian Federal Minister Claudia Bauer to discuss the strong and enduring partnership between the United States and Austria.

As Co-Chair of the Austria Congressional Caucus, I value opportunities to strengthen our transatlantic relationship and exchange ideas on the issues facing both of our nations. We had a productive conversation about supporting democracy, promoting freedom of expression, addressing illegal immigration, and other shared challenges that require continued cooperation.

I appreciate Minister Bauer taking the time to meet and look forward to continuing to build on the close relationship between the United States and Austria

Celebrating Medal of Honor with Major James Capers Jr.

It was an honor to spend time with Major James Capers Jr., a decorated veteran and American hero whose extraordinary service and sacrifice continue to inspire generations.

Since coming to Congress in 2019, helping him secure the Medal of Honor was one of my top priorities. I am proud to have helped secure H.R. 3377's passage into law to authorize the awarding of the Medal of Honor to him.

Major Capers’ courage, leadership, and dedication represent the very best of Eastern North Carolina and the United States.

Throwing Out First Pitch at Jacksonville Ospreys Game

It was an honor to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Jacksonville Ospreys game and spend the evening with players, coaches, families, and fans.

Local baseball brings our communities together and provides young athletes with opportunities to grow on and off the field through teamwork, discipline, and leadership.

Thank you to the Jacksonville Ospreys for the invitation and to everyone who came out to support the team. I wish the Ospreys continued success this season!

Team Murphy Attends W.S. King Recreation Center Renovation Groundbreaking Ceremony in Morehead City

Team Murphy was proud to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the W.S. King Recreation Center renovation in Morehead City.

This exciting project will transform the recreation center with a new gymnasium, expanded seating, pickleball courts, a renovated multipurpose field, additional parking, and other improvements that will enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages.

Congratulations to the City of Morehead City, the W.S. King School Alumni Association, Parks and Recreation staff, city leaders, and everyone whose hard work made this project possible. I look forward to seeing the positive impact these improvements will have on the community for years to come.

In the Media

I was joined by Congresswoman Erin Houchin to take a peek behind the curtain in Washington! We discussed her work on the Rules Committee, often called the “traffic cop” of the House.

Read my latest piece in the ASP on the short-sighted reimbursement formula established by the IRA for Medicare payments to physicians. Access to care and critical drugs will be crushed by the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program.

Read my latest piece in The Hill on the egregious profit-driven motive of Insurance and their stock buybacks. I have dedicated my life to caring for patients. Now, as a physician-legislator in Congress, I am taking on the most powerful and self-serving lobby in Washington, health insurers.

National Park Month

yy

July is National Park Month, a time to celebrate the incredible beauty, history, and natural wonders preserved throughout our nation.

Here in Eastern North Carolina, we're proud to be home to the Cape Lookout National Seashore. With its unspoiled beaches, historic lighthouse, diverse wildlife, and rich maritime heritage, Cape Lookout is one of our region's most treasured destinations. It offers families, anglers, boaters, and outdoor enthusiasts a chance to experience the very best of North Carolina's coast.

Our national parks and seashores preserve America's natural and cultural heritage while supporting tourism and local communities. This National Park Month, I encourage everyone to visit one of these incredible places, enjoy the outdoors, and help ensure they remain protected for generations to come.

Happy National Park Month!

Sincerely,
Greg Murphy Signature
