Thank you for taking the time to read my most recent updates from Eastern North Carolina and Washington, D.C. As always, it remains a true honor and a privilege to represent you in Congress! If this email was forwarded to you, you can subscribe to my e-newsletter here. Quote of the Week In 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the Moon during the historic Apollo 11 mission, marking one of humanity’s greatest achievements and a defining moment in American history. “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” – Neil Armstrong Armstrong’s words captured the spirit of innovation, determination, and exploration that made the impossible possible. The success of Apollo 11 was the result of years of hard work by astronauts, engineers, scientists, and countless Americans who believed our nation could achieve extraordinary things. This week serves as a reminder of what can be accomplished when Americans dare to dream big and work together toward a common goal. More than five decades later, Armstrong’s historic step continues to inspire future generations to push the boundaries of discovery and pursue new frontiers. As we reflect on this remarkable achievement, we honor the courage, ingenuity, and perseverance that helped put a man on the Moon and demonstrated the limitless potential of the American people. Over the last two weeks, in Washington and the district, I have had the pleasure to meet with so many constituents, small business owners, farmers, and community leaders to hear directly about the issues that matter most. We continue to face serious challenges, including the high cost of groceries, gasoline, and healthcare, and I remain committed to actively pursuing common-sense solutions. It is an honor to represent you in Congress, and I will keep working every day to ensure our region and our nation continue to thrive.
I will continue fighting for the values of North Carolina's Third Congressional District. If you wish to stay more engaged and aware of what is happening in Washington and our District, please follow me on my social media accounts linked above or here: Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube.

Obtaining Health Insurance A constituent needed help receiving a refund from the IRS, months after they filed their taxes. My office escalated this issue with the Taxpayer Advocate Service, and within 30 days, a refund of almost $15,000 was issued. Team Murphy stands at the ready to help cut through bureaucracy and help you receive what you are owed by the federal government

Celebrating Major James Capers Receiving the Medal of Honor Congratulations to Major James Capers, a decorated veteran and American hero, for receiving the Medal of Honor! Since coming to Congress in 2019, helping him secure this decoration has been one of my top priorities. I am proud to have worked alongside Congressman Ralph Norman for years, advocating for and ultimately passing legislation authorizing the President to bestow this award on Capers. Major Capers' extraordinary sacrifices and service to our country continue to inspire generations. His selfless dedication is emblematic of a true patriot, and he is truly among the finest Americans I have known. What a wonderful day of celebration
Celebrating Juneteenth Juneteenth is an important day in our nation’s history and a reminder of America’s enduring promise of freedom and equality under the law. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of slavery, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Their actions marked a historic moment in the ongoing effort to ensure the blessings of liberty were extended to all Americans. As we observe Juneteenth National Independence Day, we reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought to preserve the Union and end slavery in the United States. We also recognize the progress our nation has made while recommitting ourselves to the principles of freedom, opportunity, and equal justice that define America. The United States remains a beacon of hope because our nation is founded on the belief that every person is created equal and entitled to the God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As we commemorate Juneteenth, may we continue working to build a stronger, more united country and preserve the freedoms that make America exceptional for future generations

Floor Speech Exposing Health Insurance Prior Authorization Abuse As a physician who has served patients for 35 years, I am sickened by the unconscionable practices of health insurance companies that continually place profits above patient care. Prior authorization, in particular, is being abused to prop up profits and deny care to those who need it. Click on the photo below or here to watch.

Securing $2.2 Million in Funding for Winterville Honored to present a $2.2 million federal check to the Town of Winterville that I secured through last year's appropriations process.
These funds will support critical upgrades to Winterville's water infrastructure, including improvements to three water main lines and the acquisition of a new water storage system. As Winterville continues to grow, these investments will help ensure that residents have access to reliable, high-quality water service while strengthening fire-flow protection throughout the community.
Supporting infrastructure improvements like these helps communities keep pace with growth and ensures Eastern North Carolina remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
I appreciate the partnership of Winterville's local leaders and look forward to seeing the positive impact these upgrades will have for years to come.

Father’s Day is an opportunity to recognize the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures whose love, guidance, and sacrifice help shape their families' lives and strengthen our communities.
Across Eastern North Carolina and throughout our nation, we celebrate the dads who work hard every day to provide for their families, teach important values, and serve as role models for the next generation. Their commitment, leadership, and dedication leave a lasting impact that extends far beyond their own homes.
As a father, I understand the profound responsibility and privilege that comes with helping guide and support the next generation. Fatherhood is one of life’s greatest blessings, and it plays a vital role in building strong families and vibrant communities.
As we celebrate Father’s Day, let us take time to thank the fathers and father figures who have influenced our lives through encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering support. Their example inspires us, and their contributions help shape a brighter future for generations to come.
